Representatives of IBO 2026 Visited the Lithuanian National Broadcaster Radio Show

Representatives of the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2026 Organising Committee took part in the LRT Radio programme “10-12” to share their thoughts on IBO 2026, which will be hosted in Vilnius.

Gediminas Beresnevičius, Head of the Skills Development Department at the Lithuanian Non-Formal Education Agency, and Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė, Chairperson of the Vilnius University Senate and Director of the Institute of Biosciences at the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center, discussed the significance of hosting the Olympiad in Lithuania and the extensive preparation required for students participating in the competition, the confidentiality of examination task preparations, and how the students themselves feel about participating in an event like this.

The guests shared insights into Vilnius University"s role in designing and preparing the theoretical and practical biology examinations, ensuring that the competition meets the highest international academic standards. They also highlighted the cultural programme being prepared by the Lithuanian Non-Formal Education Agency (LINEŠA), which will introduce participants to Lithuania"s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and natural environment, making their experience memorable both inside and outside the competition.
