81 Delegations Confirm the Intent to Participate at IBO 2026

The Organizing Committee of the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026) is pleased to announce that 81 delegations have officially submitted their Intent to Participate in the upcoming competition, scheduled to take place from 12-19 July 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania. 

Compared with the 36th International Biology Olympiad held in 2025, which involved 77 delegations, this year’s intent number represents a growth in international commitment to biology education.

As IBO 2026 preparations continue, teams and national coordinators are reminded of key upcoming milestones in the registration process:

• Official Pre-Registration Deadline – national teams are expected to complete team pre-registration by March 31st, 2026.


• Fee Payment Deadline – registered teams are expected to complete participation fee payments by April 30th, 2026.


• Full Team Registration – expected to be completed by May 15th for individuals requiring a visa, otherwise by June 1st.

These milestones represent important steps toward a successful and well-coordinated Olympiad. Teams and their national coordinators are encouraged to consult the IBO 2026 website for any questions and logistical guidance.
